DEPUTY CHIEF FIRE OFFICER
(Paterson C3 Band)

Main purpose of the job: To Supervise Operational Section shifts at a station including duties and responsibilities include maintaining readiness for emergency call response; responding to fire, medical, and related emergency calls when dispatched and taking proper action; educating staff and public on fire safety/prevention; and performing other tasks in accordance with the Local Authorities Fire Brigade Services Act no 5, 2006.

Key performance areas: The successful candidate will be responsible to execute the following duties:

  • Supervises the work/job activities of the staff members in the section;
  • Responds to emergencies;
  • Training/Operations;
  • Community fire prevention education programs;
  • Specialised education programs to emergency response teams;
  • Controls and maintains vehicle, tools, equipment and implements and Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSM) at the workplace.

Requirements: Applicants should have an Advanced Diploma in Fire Brigade Services or such equivalent qualification and 8 years fire related experience at Management level OR a Grade 12 (pass mark of 20 points over 5 subjects which must include an E symbol in English) or such equivalent qualification and 10 years fire related experience at Management level.

Additional Requirements: Fire Technology and Fire Service Management, Fire Operations or Disaster Management; a Code C1 driver’s license with PA and a valid First Aid Certificate.

Purpose of job: To plan; organise and direct staff and activities of the Community and Economic Development department.  Develop and implement strategic plans, policies and procedures for Swakopmund's Community and Economic Development programmes to accomplish Council's goals and objectives.  Oversee the preparation and administration of the departmental budget.

Requirements: Applicants should have an appropriate B Degree on NQF Level 7. A relevant Master Degree will be an advantage; Seven (7) years relevant experience of which five (5) must be as a Manager; a Code B Driver’s Licence; Computer Training and Basic safety training.

Purpose of job: Assists the Foreman by doing maintenance and cleans at the disposal works, Pump Stations and Sewerage Reticulating Network.

Key Performance areas:The successful candidate will be responsible to clear blockages in the sewerage reticulating network in town; maintains and cleans at the disposal works; maintains and cleans pump stations, offices and equipment.

Requirements:         
j  Applicants should have Grade 10 (pass mark of 23 points over 6     subjects which must include an E symbol in English), and

  • 1 year sewerage works experience.

TECHNICIAN: PROJECTS
 (Paterson C4 Band)

Purpose of job: Provides technical support functions to the Manager: Projects and other divisions/departments. The incumbent is primarily responsible for technical projects with respect to planning, design, construction supervision and project management under a variety of Engineering and Architectural disciplines, such as constructions, extensions, renovations, upgrading and maintenance projects.

Key Performance areas: The successful candidate will be responsible for technical support for the planning, design and maintenance of road, traffic, storm water, water sewerage, purified effluent and building related infrastructure and documentation thereof; provides technical assistance with investigation, planning, design, documentation, supervision, data base maintenance and enquiries related to the disciplines listed under KPA1; administration – various administrative tasks; communicates and guides internal departments, public and professionals by providing technical support.

Requirements:        Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma in Civil Engineering or B-The Degree in Civil Engineering with 3 years relevant experience as Civil Technician OR B-Tech Degree with 3 years post qualification relevant working experience in Civil Engineering. The applicant must be in possession of a valid Code B Drivers Licence and be registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia.
