DRAUGHTSPERSON
(Paterson C1 Band)

Main purpose of the job: Responsible to provide technical draughting, data-capturing services and administrative support functions to the Manager: Design Office & Building Control and as directed to other divisions. The incumbent administers physical and digital plan registers and archives; answers routine enquiries from the public and internally; sell plans and map books; exports and imports drawings and related digital data.

Key performance Areas: The incumbent will be responsible to draught support for Technicians, Town Planning and Engineer; maintains a physical and digital drawing archive; measures and levels existing buildings and structures; sets out temporary structures and assists on sport fields and tracks; points out pegs and be responsible to routine enquiries and communication;

Requirements: Applicants should have Grade 12 (pass mark of 20 points over 5 subjects which must include an E symbol in English); Competency in AutoCAD and proven computer literacy. One year studies in architecture, civil engineering or relevant technical course at NIMT or COSDEC; Two years relevant experience as civil or architectural Draughter, experience in measurement of buildings and use of dumpy level and be in possession of a valid Code B Driver’s Licence.

SWAKOPMUND MUNICIPALITY

2 x BUILDING INSPECTORS
(Paterson C3 Band)

Main purpose of the job: To ensure that all building regulations are adhered to.

Key performance areas: Inspection of building operations. Scrutinizes building plans; Create quotations, making out invoices and issue statement of payment for the public for subsidised sidewalks, bill boards and sign boards.  Advise and provide information to the public; Administrative duties; Monitoring of various construction projects and performing law enforcement by termination of illegal building activities.

Requirements: The minimum requirement is the candidate must be in possession of a National Diploma in Building/Construction Management/or a Diploma in Civil Engineering/or a Trade Diploma in bricklaying and plastering. NQF Level 6, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Surveying or Quantity Surveying; have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe reader and AutoCAD, have 3 years experience working in the building environment and 1 year in an administrative environment, and have a Code B Driver’s License.
