The
functions of the town health department are as follows:
The Health
Officers in this section advise the public on matters
relating to public health and the preservation of an environment
that is conducive to clean and hygienic conditions.
Inspections
are performed at all food premises, dairies as well as
the abattoir to ensure that the standard of hygiene as
stipulated, is complied with. Food sampling, analysis
of samples taken, as well as health education is combined
with inspections.

all complaints received and to advise on corrective

| Building
plan inspections: |
Building plans
are verified to determine if it complies with health and
building regulations, with particular reference to lighting
and ventilation.
| Waste
management section: |
This section
is responsible for the collection and transport of domestic
and garden refuse as well as to clean up all open spaces
and streets where after the refuse is dumped at the dumping
site.
GM : Health
Services are responsible to supervise the humane slaughtering
of livestock and the inspection of dressed carcasses.
This section
controls the keeping of dogs and other animals and supervises
the annual renewal of dog licenses.

function of the town health department: |

Assist the General Manager with the supervision of professional and technical staff. |

Provide advice, support and training to the Health Officers and technical staff. |
3. |
Provide leadership and directly co-ordinate public and environmental health activities, solid waste management, animal control and administration. |
4. |
Establishes and maintains Intersectoral collaboration with government line ministries and other organizations. |
5. |
Maintains the implementation of the strategic environmental health plan. |
